I love going back to Smith for the AASC’s class officer and volunteers’ training conferences. You visit Smith, see what changes have taken place (for better or for not so better sometimes,) spend time getting to know the other class officers with whom you’ll be working and of course, for me, a chance, if not two, to return to the mothership, aka Herrell’s. This September was my third AASC conference, but it was the first time it really made me think. I wondered, as I looked around the room, as I spoke with and listened to women who graduated 30, 40, and even 50 years before us, will we be as devoted and passionate about our 50th and 60th and 70th reunions as they are? Will our connection to the College mean as much to us then as it does to them? Will we feel the same sense of responsibility to stay involved and volunteer for our class and the College?
I guess only time will tell, but over the next five years, as we gear up for our 20th reunion (May 2012- mark you calendars now!) I hope that we can revitalize our connections to the class. Visit this website more frequently, as we will be adding new sections and links and updating information more often than we have in the past. I’ve got a great group of officers to work with this term, and we are all committed to showing the Class of 1992 a prosperous 5-year term and planning a great reunion.
